WWE legend Ric Flair declares support for Leicester, taunts Manchester United

Ric Flair was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015

Leicester City’s unbelievable underdog story is drawing supporters from all corners of the world. WWE legend and former wrestler Ric Flair has come out in support of the Foxes.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, the “Nature Boy” delivered a rousing speech in which he encouraged Leicester City to bring home the title and also managed to taunt Manchester United.

Referring to the steep odds that faced Leicester City, the 16 time WWE world champion said,”Boys, I heard it’s one in 500 million, that’s the odds of you guys winning”.

Encouraging the Foxes to not lose their nerve, Ric Flair in his typically charismatic manner said, “You’ve come this close, you’ve walked that aisle, you’ve played and beaten the best. Bring it. Don’t look back, just look forward”.

In his speech to the radio channel, he also managed to taunt Manchester United saying, "Manchester United, you're up next. You've got no game guys. Leicester City all the way.” He ended his speech with his war cry of “Whooo!”.

The wrestling veteran would know a bit about winning titles. Through a successful wrestling career spanning 40 years, he won 16 world championship titles. Leicester would do well to take his advice on board.

Ric Flair retired from professional wrestling back in 2008 after fighting a career threatening match at WrestleMania 24. He battled against another veteran, Shawn Michaels, in an emotional final match.

Leicester gunning for glory

Boosted by Jamie Vardy’s goals, Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City have taken the Premier League by storm this season. Charging up the table to first position, they are unlikely favourites to win the title after narrowly escaping relegation last season and now hold a five-point lead over second placed Tottenham managed by Mauricio Pochettino.

The Foxes slipped up in the previous fixture by salvaging a last minute 2-2 draw against West Ham at the King Power Stadium. Tottenham capitalised on this slip-up with a 4-0 win against Stoke City reducing the gap to just 5 points with just 4 games to go in the Barclays Premier League season.

Leicester have a tough set of fixtures for the title run-in and face Swansea City on Sunday. Their final fixtures include Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea.

Manchester United also face a tough fight for fourth position from Manchester City and Arsenal. They are currently in fifth  position and need to win almost all of their matches to get into the Champions League spots.
