“You can’t find players like him nowhere in the world” - Liverpool fans thrilled after watching 25-year-old star in 1-0 win over Crystal Palace

Liverpool fans on X have hailed Cody Gakpo after he put in an exceptional performance in their 1-0 Premier League win over Crystal Palace. The two sides faced each other at Selhurst Park on Saturday, October 5.

Gakpo has shown glimpses of promise this season under Arne Slot but has largely had to play second fiddle to Luis Diaz. Fortunately for the Dutchman, he was handed his first Premier League start of the season, lining up alongside Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah to complete the Reds' attack.

Liverpool took the lead in the ninth minute when Gakpo delivered a wonderful low ball into the path of Jota, who did well to finish past Dean Henderson. The 25-year-old was a threat down the left wing, creating five chances, providing one assist and completing two dribbles. He also put in a shift defensively, making nine recoveries and winning seven duels.

One fan reacted by posting:

"Gakpo is so special man. You can’t find players like him nowhere in the world"

Check out how other Liverpool fans reacted on X:

"Diaz has had a great start to the season, but I just wanna see Gakpo get an extended run in the side off the left now. He's involved in everything and offers so much there," one fan commented
"Gakpo won us that game. Put in an absolute shift at both ends of the pitch on that left side. Brilliant," another added
"You want goals use Diaz. You want both goals and assist start Cody Gakpo," one fan insisted
"Gakpo my man of the match, there. Never keen on him as a winger long-term just because I don't think he has the physical edge there but he's learnt to play at different tempos, interprets space really well and is a very willing runner in behind," another posted
"Cody Gakpo at left wing has rocked my world," another chimed in

"That could be a while now" - Peter Crouch believes Liverpool superstar picked up 'bad' injury during 1-0 win against Crystal Palace

Former Liverpool forward Peter Crouch reckons Alisson Becker could be set for an extended period on the sidelines after he limped off during their 1-0 win against Crystal Palace.

Alisson had a phenomenal game against the Eagles, making four top saves to keep his side in the game. However, he had to be substituted in the 79th minute for Vitezslav Jaros after appearing to pick up a muscle injury in his leg following a routine clearance.

The Brazilian was seen clutching the back of his leg and appeared to be frustrated - even throwing his gloves onto the ground. This led to Crouch telling TNT Sports (via Rousing the Kop):

“I saw it straight away, he knew straight away and when a player reacts like that you know it’s a bad one. He looks distraught in front of us here and that could be a while now.”

This would be a massive blow for Liverpool as Alisson recently returned after suffering a hamstring injury earlier this season. He has made nine appearances across competitions, keeping five clean sheets.

Liverpool remain at the top of the league table with 18 points from seven games, four points above second-placed Man City.
