Rumour: Zenit set to outbid English giants Liverpool and Manchester United for Mohamed Salah

Salah is slipping away from Liverpool’s hand

Earlier reports had suggested that Basel winger Mohamed Salah was on the brink of signing for Liverpool. He was said to have opted for Liverpool ahead of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.Salah’s agent Sascha Empacher has pointed out that an agreement between Liverpool and Basel is yet to be reached.

Empacher said: “Talks with Liverpool are ongoing. They want him. But they need agreement with Basel.”

Fresh reports from Russia suggest that Zenit St. Petersburg are ready to double Liverpool and United’s offer to snap up the winger. History suggests that Basel have always sold to the highest bidder, irrespective of the player’s wish or the stature of the clubs interested.

Only last summer, Alexander Dragovic was in negotiations with Arsenal and Inter Milan over a proposed £5 million move, only for Dinamo Kiev to offer £7.5m for the Austrian and snap him up.

From the looks of it, Salah is on his way to Russia, with the English giants set to miss out on him. Unless Zenit decide to pull out of the race as Salah is cup tied in the Champions League.
