Zico: I don't worry about foreigners or Indians on the pitch, its more about FC Goa
FC Goa came back from a goal down to beat Kerala Blasters at JLN Stadium, Fatorda and walked away with 3 points to climb to the top of the table. Kerala took the lead through Mohammed Rafi with Leo Moura cancelling it out just before half-time. Grégory Arnolin headed home the winner in the 83rd minute to hand another away defeat to the Kerala Blasters.
At the post-match press conference, Zico said, “We are not favorites as this is a very tough tournament. Always we will have to give our best and fight to be in the top four.”
“It was a hard game. The same way we came with the victory even they could come. This was a very difficult game for us,” he added.
Over the ‘double substitutions’ of Mandar & Romeo, Zico explained, “I used them to give speed to our team as the duo are swift that could add pace to our team. And since they were pressing we earned a corner resulting in the goal”
When asked about fielding more Indians players on the pitch, Brazilian said “I don’t worry about foreigners or Indians on the pitch, for me it’s more about FC Goa.”
While Peter Taylor was disappointed after their straight third defeat, he said, “I think we deserved to score more than one goal but unfortunately, we still conceded two goals which were poor goals for us from set-pieces.”
“It’s disappointing but when a thing like that happens, you have to stay very strong. Nobody is ever going to give you your next result you have to work very hard as a team. So you have to work very hard. We have to look at the pluses and we have to look at the negative which are the goals conceded,” the Englishman added.
When asked about his plans for the next away match against FC Pune City, the Former Spurs winger said “I think we'll approach Pune how we approached today. I wanted the boys to do certain things to create more chances and they've done that. So I'm going to go into the changing room and say well done.’’
