Zlatan Ibrahimovic asked to leave France by French politician Marine Le Pen
Marine Le Pen, the leader of polical party Front National asked Zlatan Ibrahimovic to leave France if he finds the country sh*t. Her comments came in the wake of Zlatan going on a rant calling the country undeserving of Paris Saint-Germain after the referee made a goof-up in PSG’s 2-3 loss to Bordeaux.
She said, “Those who consider that France is a sh*t country can leave it. There. It’s as simple as that.”
Politcians circle around Zlatan
Le Pen also called for the officials to reprimand the Swede when she replied, “That’s the least they could do” on being asked if Zlatan should be punished.
French Sports Minister, Patrick Kanner tweeted, “Ibrahimovic’s disappointment doesn’t justify his insults towards the referee and the country that has welcomed him. He should apologize.”
Another MP, Jerome Guedj had his say on the matter as well. He said, “Let him play football and shut up, or at least show some respect towards this country and football supporters who were also insulted.”
I was angry. I am sorry: Zlatan
However, Zlatan apologized on Instagram after his outburst saying he did not mean to hurt anyone’s sentiments as anger got the best of him and his messages were meant solely for referee Lionel Jaffredo.
He wrote, “I spoke about football. I lost the game, I accept that, but I can’t accept when the referee doesn’t follow the rules. It’s not the first time and I’m sick of it. My sincere apologies if anyone was offended, or took it the wrong way.
“I was angry. Everyone knows in that situation they often say things without thinking. I apologize if people felt offended.”
