Zlatan Ibrahimovic immortalized with wax statue in Paris
Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been immortalized with a wax statue in Musee Grevin, Paris. The Musee Grevin wax museum is the French version of Madame Tussauds and now Ibrahimovic’s statue is one of many attractions at the museum.
The statue captures the 33-year-old’s famous celebration of raising his arms in the air after scoring.
The Swede’s status in France is such that he has now become only the second foreign footballer after Pele to receive his own statue at Musee Grevin despite arriving in France just two and a half years ago. His statue will stand alongside French football legend Zinedine Zidane apart from Hollywood celebrities like George Clooney, Marilyn Monroe, among others.
The plan to immortalize the Paris Saint-Germain star was made almost a year ago and now the complete work has finally been unveiled. Back in 2014, when work on the statue began, Ibrahimovic admitted it was a great honour for him to get his own wax statue.
He said, “It was a really fantastic day. It's a great honour for me to have my own wax statue, here at the Musée Grévin.
“I am very happy to have been chosen to stand alongside all these international celebrities. Don't forget to come and see me when the statue is unveiled!”
Here is Ibrahimovic’s post on Instagram with a quirky caption:
I took the opportunity to take a selfie with myself at the Grevin Museum in Paris. The one to the right is made of wax and the one to the left is made of steel.
