Zlatan Ibrahimovic to miss the Champions League match against Barcelona
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out of the Champions League fixture against Barcelona. The talismatic striker thus misses out on an opportunity to exact revenge on one of his former clubs. Ibrahimovic has been ruled out of the match with a heel injury, which is a blow to the Parisians as they face the Blaugrana at the Parc de Princes on Tuesday night.
He has already missed out of PSG's last two fixtures - a 2-0 win at Caen and a 1-1 draw at Toulouse. The former French coach and present PSG manager Laurent Blanc had wished that the Swedish captain would be ready to take on La Blaugrana.
But, a brief statement released on Monday by PSG has stated that Ibrahimovic would not be available to play after the tests showed his fitness had "not been satisfactory".
Barcelona yet to concede a goal this season
The Catalonian giants are yet to concede a goal this season, in any competition. Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique will now be more confident of keeping the record running with Ibrahimovic’s injury.
Paris Saint-German are bound to face problems because Ezequiel Lavezzi is nursing a thigh injury and their captain Thiago Silva has also been ruled out because of a hamstring strain.
PSG also facing problems in Ligue 1
The Ibrahimovic injury news has also come when PSG have been struggling to find their old form in Ligue 1. The defending champions are currently at fourth place, trailing Bordeaux by three points. They have drawn five times in their opening eight fixtures.
The former Napoli striker Edinson Cavani will mostly be leading the line in place of Ibrahimovic.
