“Bro cussed out an entire generation”: Fortnite community reacts to player receiving a social ban for almost 8000 years

Over the years, Fortnite has become more than a game; it provides a social platform for players to engage in and make friends. However, Epic Games also reserves the right to disable players' abilities to engage with others within the community, should they violate the game's guidelines. For one such player, it seems the developers accidentally took things to the extreme.

This is highlighted in a recent Reddit post shared by u/2-345, where the player showcased a screenshot of their in-game social menu in Chapter 5 Season 3, which displayed a social ban imposed on the player spanning 2,912,958 days or 7980 years. The Reddit post was shared by prominent leaker and data-miner iFireMonkey on the social media platform X, where it garnered a lot of attention from community members.

X user @MFTFGames jokingly suggested the reason behind the player's ban spanning several millennia and stated:

Other members of the community took to the comments of the X post to share their reactions to the massive ban, with X user @Gneazyx pointing out how the social ban will make it impossible for the player to add friends for almost 8000 years. X user @AnimeAbsol, however, joked about how the player's social ban will not only skip Chapter 6 but hundreds of Chapters that come after it.

Meanwhile, X user @Elitelovesyou revealed how they were banned from using the game's social features for dangerous or illegal activities, which was not true in the slightest. X user @Whalehead32 recounted a similar tale of being banned from using the game's social features for over 2 million days.

Why was the Fortnite player slammed with an 8000-year-long ban?

While it would undoubtedly be funny to see a ban that spans that long of a period before going away, it is possible that it is not as long as it seems. As pointed out by various users in the comments, the long ban seems to be caused by a visual glitch that showcases the absurd duration of the ban.

If a player were to restart their game and check the social menu, they would likely see their ban period adjusted to what was imposed by the developers.
