Deadpool breaks the fourth wall in Fortnite, asks about Midas’ whereabouts

The latest Fortnite update brings Deadpool to Chapter 5 Season 3 where the popular superhero breaks the fourth wall and asks about Midas. Deadpool and Wolverine are being brought back to the game as part of the promotion surrounding the latest Deadpool & Wolverine movie and this easter egg has fans all excited.

Here's everything we know from Deadpool's Fourth wall break in Fortnite.

According to the latest early access gameplay reports, Deadpool's description in the Fortnite Item Shop breaks the fourth wall. This was brought forward by legacy leakers like @Hypex and @ShiinaBR, who have been instrumental in discovering leaks such as the upcoming story quests in Fortnite.

The description establishes that Deadpool is aware of his existence in the Fortnite universe as well as the fact that he is in a game:

I'm pretty sure I'm already in this game. Where's Midas?

It alternatively implies the possibility of a second Deadpool already being in the game, hinting at the multiverse that Fortnite has heavily promoted since the Big Bang event in 2023.

The question in the latter half of his description is an interesting addition, that might hint at the return of Midas in Fortnite. Deadpool was first seen in Chapter 2 Season 2 at Midas' Yacht, linking him with the nefarious villain. This season also contains numerous boats and ships, augmented by the recent Pirates of the Caribbean collaboration. Players might even get to see Deadpool or Midas take over one of the ships lying around the map, although this is purely speculative.

Midas was last seen in Chapter 5 Season 2 as Ascendant Midas when he escaped and was confirmed to be King Midas from Greek Mythology. This Outfit description and Deadpool's question might hint at Midas being a part of the upcoming chapter that is rumored to feature Doctor Doom.

This is not the first Deadpool skin to be featured in the game or the Item Shop. Earlier versions like Deadpool and Ravenpool were featured as cosmetics before this Pen and Ink variant of the popular superhero. This is the first Deadpool character to break the fourth wall since its inception, although other characters have also been known to do the same.

Although Deadpool (Pen and Ink) might be the latest Outfit to break the game's fourth wall, one of the most notorious instances of this is perhaps the dark and disturbing character of Fabio Sparklemane.

Fabio Sparklemane was first seen in Chapter 2 Season 8 and is known to be the mascot for Unicorn Flakes. His signature emote Flake Shake is a chilling fourth-wall break. The lines of the song he sings state:

I cannot stop! Help me! The hoof is a curse that must be obeyed, You can never escape what the rainbow has made. Summon breakfast power from the depths until the monster wakes, Everybody gets some Unicorn Flakes!

The song is a chilling cry for help from the trapped character and one of the most well-known instances of an Outfit or character breaking the fourth wall in-game. However, Deadpool's fourth-wall break might signify the arrival of Midas as well as the possible presence of a second variant of the popular superhero.
