@FortniteStatus, the official Fortnite status account from Epic, recently posted an update regarding the disabling of the Fortnite Slurp Cacti Respawn between July 26 and 29:

There is no information or context provided as to why this sudden change was made. Legacy leaker @Hypex states that this might be due to a bug that is being fixed while a majority of players think it might be disabled because it coincides with the Fortnite FNCS 2024: Major 3 Grand Finals that begins on July 27, 2024, and concludes the next day. Players speculate this nerf might be an intentional handicap before the grand finals begin.

Many players speculate that this move comes as a result of the ongoing FNCS tournament, which is one of the biggest gaming tournaments currently going on worldwide and offers the largest prize money of all online tournaments. Many players and even some current participants were visibly annoyed by this move:
