Although it is unclear if Midas himself will be present on the island, the golden amalgamation of Midas and Meowscles most definitely is. As seen in the trailer, the character is now part of Snoop Dogg's entourage.

Earn 140,000 XP to get the Fortnite Golden Scythe Pickaxe for free
As per the information provided by Epic Games, to get the Fortnite Golden Scythe Pickaxe for free, you will need to accumulate 140,000 XP in-game. This task is time-bound and has to be completed before November 11, 2024, at 12 AM ET.
It can be assumed that you will need 70,000 XP to climb up a level on the Battle Pass in Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix. As such, you can earn the Fortnite Golden Scythe by leveling up two times. This should not be difficult in the least, as the start of a new season is filled with opportunities to earn XP.
In most instances, you should easily be able to level up at least two to three times in the very first match itself. Since progress will be reset, you will find yourself fighting mostly bots, which will make it easier to get eliminations and a Victory Royale at the very end. That said, you will have a total of nine days to earn 140,000 XP, which is a very reasonable ask.

How to earn 140,000 XP quickly in Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix
You will find plenty of opportunities to earn XP by partaking in Quests, Challenges, Biounties, and by completing certain Milestones/Accolades. XP can also be earned outside of Battle Royale/Zero Build in LEGO Fortnite, Festival, Rocket Racing, and Creative.
With XP now being shared between all Fortnite modes, you can decide how to earn the needed 140,000 XP
Will the Fortnite Golden Scythe Pickaxe be available in the Item Shop later on?
Epic Games has not mentioned anything related to the Fortnite Golden Scythe Pickaxe being listed in the Item Shop at a later date. As it stands, this Pickaxe should be considered time-limited and could be permanently vaulted after November 11, at 12 AM ET.
The developers could share more information once the Fortnite downtime today (November 2, 2024) ends.
