Epic Games confirms the return of Fortnite OG

Epic Games has officially confirmed the return of Fortnite OG. This mode will launch alongside Chapter 6 Season 1 next month. Once again, players will be able to experience the game as it was in the "OG" days of 2017 to 2019.

Of course, the gameplay and mechanics might witness a few tweaks given the advancements made by the developers. However, for the most part, things will remain the same. This is what Epic Games had to say:

"OG is coming BACK and is here to stay. Relive Battle Royale from the start and explore the OG map, collect OG loot, and relive OG seasons."

That said, here is everything we know thus far about Fortnite OG, and what you can expect to see in-game when it is released next month.

When does Fortnite OG release?

Fortnite OG will be released on December 6, 2024. The exact time has not been provided, but it will likely be towards 9 AM ET, which is when most in-game updates go live. This pattern has been observed for years at this point.

However, keep in mind that this is just a tentative time. Epic Games will provide the exact time later this week or perhaps during the Remix: The Finale Live Event.

What to expect in Fortnite OG?

Epic Games will be bringing back everything that is associated with OG Fortnite. This includes the loot pool, POIs, and maybe even Battle Passes featuring OG cosmetics.

As seen in the teaser, the Map of the Island is from Chapter 1 Season 1, which is where things will kick off on December 6. As previously mentioned by leakers, each Season will last roughly a month. So, taking into account the 10 Seasons of Chapter 1, it will start in December 2024 and end sometime around October-November 2025. However, at the moment, it is unclear if each individual Season will have their OG storyline associated with it.

This would be the ideal date as Epic Games will likely introduce a filler Season like Chapter 2 Remix, before Chapter 7 kicks off in December of 2025.

This pattern has now been repeated twice, and will probably be followed for some time to come. That said, more information about Fortnite OG will likely be shared as we reach the end of Chapter 2 Remix.
