Fortnite Battle Pass overhaul; Battle Stars being removed and Music Pass to be introduced
According to the information provided by Epic Games, the Fortnite Battle Pass will undergo some major changes. Some of these changes will go into effect starting November 2, 2024, once Fortnite Remix Chapter 2 goes live. This mostly pertains to the game's Festival Pass which is undergoing a radical change.
To create more synergy in-game, Fortnite Battle Pass holders will now gain XP from all modes, including Fortnite Festival. The paid Pass for the mode will be called Music Pass. This is what Epic Games had to say about it:
"The Music Pass will progress from XP gained from any source starting on November 2 with Fortnite Festival Season 6 and the next season of Fortnite Battle Royale."
This essentially means, that if you have the Music Pass, you will not have to play Fortnite Festival to unlock rewards. You can simply explore new LEGO Fortnite Seeds, fight in Battle Royale/Zero Build, or even play Creative to earn XP for it.
As of December 1, 2024 (quite possibly the starting date of Chapter 6), the change will also be applied to the Brick or Treat LEGO Pass. This will then follow suit for all upcoming passes across the Metaverse.
Fortnite Battle Pass will no longer feature Battle Stars
Apart from creating synergy between all Fortnite passes by having them earn XP from all modes, Epic Games is also getting rid of Battle Stars. As such, Battle Pass holders for Fortnite Chapter 6 and beyond will not have to spend this in-game currency to unlock rewards. It will automatically be unlocked as you earn XP. This is what Epic Games had to say:
"To simplify things once all passes progress using XP, we’ll be retiring Festival Points on November 2, followed by Battle Stars and Studs on December 1."
As it stands the Fortnite Remix Chapter 2 Battle Pass will be the last to utilize Battle Stars. From Chapter 6 onward, all passes will share XP with all modes, which will give players the freedom to play any mode while still leveling up all their passes at once.
