The Fortnite downtime today (August 16, 2024) will begin at 11 pm Eastern Time. This will be the moment the current season (v30.40) ends, and the storyline's next phase storyline begins (v31.00). Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 will feature Doctor Victor Von Doom and other Marvel villains, such as Mysterio and Emma Frost. They will establish a foothold on the island using Doom's newfound power that he obtained from Pandora's Box.
Once the Fortnite downtime today (August 16, 2024) starts, the servers will be taken offline, and matchmaking will be disabled shortly beforehand. The window for this to occur is somewhere between 10:30 pm and 11 pm ET. Subsequently, the servers will come back online at 4 am ET.

The only other official bit of information that was released is that Karol G will be headlining Fortnite Festival Chapter 5. LEGO Fortnite will also get a minor update called "Sleep Until Morning." It will allow players to bypass the in-game night cycle.
Lastly, Epic Games has mentioned that the patch size will be larger than usual. This is expected as it's the start of a brand-new season.
