Fortnite iOS could return in Chapter 5 Season 4
According to the latest leaks, Fortnite iOS is all set to return in Chapter 5 Season 4. This information was brought to light by renowned leakers/data miners SpushFNBR and Krowe_moh. Together, they uncovered a gameplay trailer for iOS devices that included all four major modes: Festival, Battle Royale, LEGO, and Rocket Racing. Fall Guys was also showcased.
This is a massive development as Epic Games only announced the return of the game on iOS devices a few weeks ago. Work has likely been progressing at a rapid pace since the official announcement. However, there is no official release date yet. That said, the developers were supposedly testing v30.40 for Fortnite iOS not too long ago.
If nothing else, all the signs point to the fact that Fortnite iOS is nearly ready to be launched. However, keep in mind, despite the leaked gameplay trailer showcasing footage for Chapter 5 Season 4, it may not come to pass.
Epic Games may only release the iOS build in Chapter 5 Season 5, if not at the start of Chapter 6. While it may be a downer, it's not a bad thing, and with good reason.
Note: The information mentioned in the article is based on a leak/rumor and could be subject to change.
Chapter 6 would be the perfect time to launch Fortnite iOS
If the title is not ready for iOS devices, this phase of the storyline, Fortnite Chapter 6, would be the ideal time to release it. Since it will be the start of an entire new storyline, re-joining the game at that time would make sense. Of course, hardcore fans wouldn't mind joining towards the end of Chapter 5, but others may see it as a waste of time. Joining a story mid-way is always confusing and not very fulfilling.
Having said that, players will miss out on the characters featured in the Marvel themed Battle Pass of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4. But with exclusivity being removed, they will be able to purchase the cosmetics at a later date from the Item Shop. In a sense, players are not going to be missing out on anything at all. Everything that would have been exclusive is now purchasable.
Aside from cosmetics, releasing the game for iOS in Chapter 6 is a good thing from a technical standpoint. It would give Epic Games more time to finetune the game on iOS devices. This is crucial to the success of the game on iOS, as not having issues at launch would promote more players to jump in. This goes for those returning and those who will jump off the Battle Bus for the very first time.
In conclusion, while there is a leaked trailer for Fortnite iOS for Chapter 5 Season 4, it may not be released now. For this reason, the trailer was not shared by an official source.
Nevertheless, with just under 24 hours to go till Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 ends, a lot of things could change. Epic Games could officially post the Fortnite iOS trailer shortly before downtime.
