Fortnite leak showcases Thin Client Library feature

Thanks to the latest Fortnite leak, there is fresh information regarding the upcoming Thin Client Library feature. For the uninitiated, this new feature will allow users to download only the files they need to play the mode of their choosing. Instead of the whole game eating up disk space, users will be able to pick and choose what they want to download.

This modular approach will help users conserve space on their devices. It will also save them the trouble of having to delete files to make space for Fortnite. While this is especially handy for those on consoles, it'll benefit PC players as well.

Fortnite leak shows a working version of the Thin Client Library feature

Coming back to the Thin Client Library feature, unrealhybrid an up-and-coming leaker, has been able to obtain footage of it in-game. It is still a work in development but looks very slick as is. Here is a video of it in action:

As seen in the video, users will be able to choose which modes they want to delete from within the game client and the changes will occur in real-time. As aforementioned, this modular approach will be beneficial to users.

That said, this option is currently available from the EGS (Epic Game Store) but is limited to just Save The World. You cannot delete or uninstall other modes. However, based on the information at hand, the Thin Client Library feature will allow you to delete five modes to converse space. They are:

  • LEGO
  • Battle Royale/Zero Build (Ranked/Unranked)
  • Rocket Racing
  • Fortnite Festival
  • Creative/UEFN

As showcased in the video, you will be able to delete all modes apart from the one labeled as "Core". This likely contains files related to the client itself, making it a mandatory download.

When could the Thin Client Library feature be released?

While we have the first look at the upcoming Thin Client Library feature, it is not due for release until Q3 of 2025. This information comes from HYPEX, who is considered a veteran Fortnite leaker. Epic Games will likely provide an update at the start of Chapter 6 or perhaps toward mid-2025
