“There’s something wrong with that zipline”: Community reacts to player’s mysterious death in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 has been going strong, with players enjoying the various offerings that Absolute Doom has brought to the Island. However, despite the plethora of new features and items introduced with the season, it seems like players are not safe from bugs and glitches, much like any other previous season of the game.
This is highlighted in a recent Reddit post shared by u/INFINITY—Oficial, where the player can be seen in a squad Zero Build match in Chapter 5 Season 4, donning the Infinity Outfit. As they navigated The Raft POI armed with War Machine’s Arsenal, they took a zipline to ascend to a higher level. However, to their surprise, they were eliminated as soon as they interacted with the zipline.
The Reddit clip ignited a flurry of reactions from the Reddit community, with user u/AliasRamirez04 highlighting the issue with the zipline:

Other members of the community had their own opinions regarding the player’s mysterious elimination. Reddit user u/darthyogi highlighted how the player was eliminated due to a kill barrier. This is a phenomenon that is fairly common in the game, where Epic Games accidentally leaves some instant elimination boundaries intact. Meanwhile, user u/FlintTheDad focused on the player’s extensive Marvel weapon library featuring Captain America’s Shield.
Reddit user u/tayhorix, on the other hand, brought up the player and their team’s choice in wardrobe with the Infinity Outfit. The player jokingly enquired about why the entire team was clad in this specific outfit.
What caused the player’s mysterious elimination in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4?
While the enigmatic death faced by the player in the Reddit clip is nothing out of the ordinary even for Chapter 5 Season 4, it does raise the question of what exactly caused it. As suggested by the comments under the Reddit post, there is a strong chance that the zipline near The Raft POI is bugged. This is because many players highlighted similar issues with the same zipline.
Another possible explanation put forward by the comments is the existence of a possible kill barrier. Epic Games usually implements such kill barriers near the map's edges to keep players from using exploits to exit the playable area. However, it seems like the developers accidentally left one such kill barrier intact near The Raft. It now remains to be seen how Epic Games will tackle this issue and potentially fix the zipline that is giving players trouble.
