5 best games to play on RTX 4070

The Nvidia RTX 4070 was released a year ago in 2023, but it is still just as capable as it was during launch. It was designed for 1440p gaming and is currently available at a discounted price of just $499, which is a great deal. Not to mention, its ray tracing performance is also quite good. Nvidia GPUs are known for their ray-tracing capabilities, and the RTX 4070 will not disappoint.

Alan Wake 2 is a survival horror title that continues with the story set in the original game. It brings a whole new dimension of psychological horror to its fans and will keep them looking over their shoulders the whole time. The realistic graphics were the reason why Alan Wake 2 looked terrifying, and achieving such a level of graphical fidelity was not easy.

It runs at 60+ FPS at 1440p high graphical settings with DLSS set to balanced. This is in the forest area which is usually quite heavy on the GPU, so the card will comfortably deliver over 60 FPS in the other locations. You can even enable ray tracing in the game, but you must set DLSS to performance to achieve 60 FPS.

2) Elden Ring

If you have previously played any of the Dark Souls games, you will love Elden Ring. That's because they are developed by the same company, From Software. This action RPG game features a great story where the Elden Ring is broken, and you will have to fight your way through demigods to restore the Elden Ring and bring peace to the realms.

It is locked to 60 FPS, and the RTX 4070 easily achieves that at 1440p, even with ray tracing enabled. Elden Ring is incredibly optimized, so you can even play it at 4K resolution at the highest graphical settings if you turn off ray tracing.

A new DLC called Shadow of the Erdtree was recently released, which further expands the story.

3) Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima is a Sony title that was finally released on PC in May 2024. The story is set during the period of the Mongolian invasion of Japan. The game follows the protagonist, Jin Sakai, who was wounded and left for dead by the Mongolian forces, but as fate would have it, he was saved by a thief.

It runs quite well on the RTX 4070. You will be able to play it at 1440p with very high settings and still get around 70+ FPS.

Cyberpunk 2077 had a very rocky launch due to a myriad of issues, including graphical glitches, crashes, and even game-breaking bugs. However, its developer, CD Projekt Red, completely turned it around through countless bug fixes and made it one of the best RGP games of all time.

It recently received its last DLC called Phantom Liberty, and it was a great content drop that impressed a lot of players.

The RTX 4070 comfortably delivers 60+ FPS at 1440p high graphics settings. You can also turn on ray tracing, but you must set DLSS to balance or performance mode to get the best experience.

Hogwarts Legacy is another action RPG title, and it is set in the magic world of Hogwarts. The game's open-world setting allows you to explore every nook and cranny of the Hogwarts castle and discover all the mysteries that lurk within it.

It runs at over 60 FPS on the RTX 4070 at 1440p ultra settings with DLSS turned on. If you turn on ray tracing, you must set DLSS to performance to get a smooth performance. If you want even more smoothness in the game, you can turn on Frame Generation, which will double the FPS.

Rumor has it that a Director's Cut of the game is in development and should come out to all platforms in time.

These are some of the best games you can play on an RTX 4070. Alan Wake 2 is a fantastic title that will keep you on the edge of your seat. However, if you are not a horror fan, you can try Ghost of Tsushima, which will take you to the first Mongol invasion of Japan. No matter which title you try from the list, you will have a blast playing them.
