Android 15 is expected to release today: When can your device receive it?

The source code for Android 15 was launched back in September but it wasn't released as an update for the Pixel devices yet. However, newer reports suggest that the update could be released later today, which certainly aligns with previous leaks. It was previously suggested that Pixel devices would get the Android 15 update in October 2024, so the new report about it releasing today is certainly believable.

In this article, we will explore all the reports to answer when you can possibly expect it on your Android device.

A post about Android 15 releasing today was made on the German Pixel community forum. Google quickly realized its mistake and removed the post, but that didn't stop users from taking screenshots of the post. Some even received emails about it. They were later posted on Reddit.

According to the above image, Google reportedly sent an email saying the update will soon arrive on all Pixel devices running on Android 14. It was originally in German, but this is the translated version.

We started checking for the Android 15 update on all our Pixel devices and have successfully received it on our Pixel 6a, which suggests that Google could be rolling out the update in a phased manner. Nonetheless, you can expect the update soon since all supported Pixel devices are supposed to get it.

When will non-Pixel phones receive Android 15?

Usually, non-Pixel phones do not get the latest Android update on release date since the update needs to be developed and tested by the device manufacturer before it is released for their device. This is true for devices from all manufacturers, including Samsung, OnePlus, and others.

That said, an X user, @singhalritik111, posted that they received the Android 15 update on their Motorola phone as a part of the October security patch on October 15, 2024. The device in question is the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion.

Nonetheless, don't expect the same for other devices, but flagship phones should receive this update before others, like the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, OnePlus 12 series, and more. Other devices may receive it much later, probably in 2025.
