Everything you need to know about Steam's new game recording
Valve has been working on a game recording for a while, and it is finally here. It will allow you to record an entire game session or just some special moments without needing to install a separate third-party app. This functionality is built natively in Steam, making it a one-stop platform for all your gaming needs.
That said, this article explains everything you need to know about the new game recording feature in Steam.

Steam's new game recording is making the waves among gamers
Steam's new game recording feature went into the beta testing phase around June and received positive feedback from users for its robust quality and superb performance. This is possible due to the app's use of hardware acceleration provided by Nvidia or AMD GPUs. Unlike other applications, Steam's game recording uses minimal system resources and does not impact gaming performance.
You can either record a specific portion or an entire gaming session, with customizable settings for video quality, length, and storage. You can even adjust these preferences for each game; for instance, record entire sessions in games like Call of Duty or Apex Legends, while limiting to 1-minute clips in others.
Additionally, Steam game recording will also support AV1 video streaming, screenshot manager, game-specific tagging, and Video Marker, which is quite special. The Video Marker feature will mark a spot in the video timeline where you got a kill. Currently, this feature is only supported in DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike 2.
Since the entire game recording feature is built into the Steam application, it will also be supported in Steam Deck.
How does it compare to other game recorders?
As mentioned earlier, unlike other game recorders, the Steam game recorder is built natively in the Steam app, so it should take less system resources. It also means you don't need to install anything separately. The game recording feature will also be pre-configured for best quality and performance.
To start recording, launch the game from Steam and hit CTRL + F11. However, if anyone wants to configure some specifics manually, they can do that as well. Essentially, Steam has become the one-stop solution for all gaming activities.
