How to possibly fix Fallout London crashing on PC
The Fallout London expansion mod has been released for Bethesda Softworks' Fallout 4, and fans can't keep calm. The whole new experience is set in a post-apocalyptic version of the titular city. This extension is a fan-made project by Team Folon and was launched on July 25, 2024. While many gamers are enjoying the mod, some can't access it because of constant crashes.
This article will show you how to possibly fix the crashing issue once and for all.
Note: The solutions provided herein are not guaranteed to work for every user.
How to potentially fix Fallout London crashes
The game crashes for no apparent reason, and changing its settings doesn't help. The two fixes that may stop the game from crashing are provided below.
Fix 1
Follow these steps:
- Download the Buffout 4 mod from Nexus Mods using the manual option and extract the file.
- Inside the extracted folder, you will find a folder called F4SE. Right-click on it and select Copy.
- G to Fallout 4's main folder and find a file called Data.
- Go into the Data folder and paste the F4SE folder you copied earlier.
- If the system asks you about replacing existing files, click Replace and let the copying process continue. (Don't delete the existing F4SE folder before pasting)
- Once that's done, go back to the main Fallout 4 folder and look for f4se_loader.exe.
- Right-click on it and select "Send to."
- Next, choose Desktop (create shortcut) from the new context menu. A shortcut will be created on the desktop screen.
- Right-click on the desktop shortcut and select Properties.
- After that, click on the Compatibility tab and tick the checkbox that says, "Run this program as an administrator."
- Launch Fallout London from the desktop shortcut, and the game should launch without crashing.
You will have to launch the game from the desktop shortcut every single time, or the game will crash. You can rename the shortcut to "Fallout London" for easier readability.
Fix 2
Some users may still find their game crashing with a specific error called "Exception Access Violation" after trying out Fix 1. Following these steps should take care of this problem:
- Download the Weapon Debris Crash Fix mod from Nexus Mods using the manual option and extract the file.
- You will find a folder called F4SE inside the extracted folder.
- Next, right-click on the F4SE folder and select Copy.
- After that, go to Fallout 4's main folder and find a folder called Data.
- Go into the Data folder and paste the F4SE folder you copied earlier.
- If it asks you about replacing existing files, click Replace and let the copy process continue. (Don't delete the existing F4SE folder before pasting)
- Try launching the game from the desktop shortcut you created in Fix 1.
Fix 1 should take care of the crashing issue for most players, but if it doesn't, try fix 2.
