Intel Arc B580 vs Radeon RX 7600: Which is the best budget gaming GPU?

The release of the new Intel Arc B580 has disrupted the budget market that was dominated by GPUs like Nvidia RTX 4060 and Radeon RX 7600. We have already found the Arc B580 to be competitive with the RTX 4060 while costing a bit less, but how does it compare to the Radeon RX 7600?

That's exactly what we plan to find out today. This will be an interesting battle since the Intel Arc B580 is cheaper than the AMD GPU but has more memory — a crucial factor in many modern games.

In this article, we will compare the two GPUs across a wide range of titles to see which one comes out ahead and is the better choice for 2025 and beyond.

A closer inspection of the specs reveals Intel Arc B580 as the better-specced graphics card. It has a higher number of shader cores, texture mapping units, and render output pipelines. The Intel GPU also has higher VRAM capacity and almost double the memory bandwidth.

However, the Intel Arc B580's TDP is higher than the Radeon RX 7600, meaning it consumes more power.

Let's put the specs aside and look at some actual game benchmarks between the two to determine which is better.

Here's how Intel Arc B580 and AMD Radeon RX 7600 perform in gaming:

GamesAMD Radeon RX 7600Intel Arc B580
Final Fantasy 1618 FPS45 FPS
God of War Ragnarok49 FPS49 FPS
Dragon Age: Veilguard29 FPS47 FPS
Ghost of Tsushima60 FPS74 FPS
Silent Hill 2 (Medium settings)48 FPS50 FPS
Hellblade 232 FPS51 FPS
Horizon Forbidden West27 FPS59 FPS
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora 40 FPS39 FPS

Note: The two graphics cards were tested at 1440p resolution with High/Ultra graphics settings and/or upscaling technology where necessary. All the FPS numbers have been sourced from the Daniel Owns channel on YouTube.

On average, the Intel Arc B580 put out 36% higher FPS than the AMD Radeon RX 7600. However, while the Intel GPU's performance advantage is a bit narrower in some titles, there are times when the Radeon outperforms it.

Also, you may have noticed that the AMD graphics card scored abysmally low FPS in some games like Final Fantasy 16, Dragon Age: Veilguard, HellBlade 2, and Horizon Forbidden West but there's a reason for that. They were played with High/Ultra graphics settings, which require more than 8GB of memory, which the AMD GPU doesn't have. This resulted in bizarre performance drops for the Radeon card.

This is why having ample video memory in your graphics card is so important. Low VRAM is the primary cause of AMD's crushing defeat. Intel has equipped the Arc B580 with 12GB of memory, which future-proofs it.

The Intel Arc B580 was launched at $249.99, while the Radeon RX 7600 was released at $269. However, AMD's offering is often available for as low as $249, putting both cards in the same range. If you are in the market for a new GPU, you will find them both at the same or very competitive pricing.

Final verdict of Intel Arc B580 vs Radeon RX 7600

The Intel Arc B580 delivers around 36% more performance than the Radeon RX 7600, thanks to the better Xe2 Battlemage architecture and higher memory capacity. It is also available at fantastic pricing, which makes it hard to say no to this graphics card.

Moreover, unlike Intel's first GPUs, the Arc B580 doesn't have major driver issues, which is a certainly big deal. Yet, it does suffer from minor issues, as there are a few games where the Arc B580 had a lower FPS than the Radeon GPU, which seems like a driver issue more than anything else.

Intel has worked very hard to improve its graphics drivers in the past two years, and the Arc B580 should reap its benefits. Therefore, expect the remaining driver issues to be solved in the next few updates.

All in all, we consider the Intel Arc B580 the ultimate winner since it puts out higher FPS, delivers a better experience, and comes with more memory.
