M4 iMac specs, launch date, prices, and moreĀ
Apple has finally lifted the curtains on their latest M4 iMac, the company's popular family computer line. This makes it the second M4-powered device in the market, after the M4 iPad Pro that launched in the summer. Armed with a better display, more RAM in the base model, and a faster processor, the latest device packs a serious punch.
Apple's latest software innovations are also headed to the desktop, with the iMac bundling support for Apple Intelligence from Day 1, Center Stage camera with desk view, and more. All of this is powered by the enhanced neural processor in the M4, making it the perfect machine for AI-centered applications.
Here's everything you need to know about the latest family computer from the Cupertino-based tech giant.
What are the specs of the M4 iMac?
The highlighted feature of the latest iMac is the M4 processor. Apple has claimed the device is 1.7x faster than the last-gen M3 alternative. Moreover, the vastly more capable graphics processor in the latest device allows for 2.1x more performance in photo and video editing workloads.
You get to choose between an 8-core CPU, 8-core 10 GPU, and a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU variant. The base model now pairs at least 16 GB memory and 256 GB storage, with the top one featuring 32 GB Unified Memory and 2 TB of SSD storage.
The display largely remains the same with a 24-inch 4.5K Retina panel. However, now you have the option to get a nano-textured glass coating, which reduces glare and reflections. This enables you to work on the device even in the most brightly lit conditions. Do note that the nano-textured glass is being sold as a $200 add-on.
The detailed specs list is as follows:
What are the prices of the M4 iMac?
The base price of the M4 iMac remains the same as the last generation: $1,299. If you opt for the 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU variant, you'll have to shell out $1,499. Upgrading the storage to 512 GB brings the price to $1,699, while the decked-out iMac with all available add-ons comes at $2,979.
What is the launch date of the M4 iMac?
The M4 iMac is now available for pre-order. Apple will start shipping the devices on November 8, which is also the date when you can expect them to pop up on store shelves.
Overall, the integration of Apple Intelligence features and the bump in memory makes it a fantastic machine for those upgrading from an older Intel-based iMac. However, those already on the M3 variant won't feel much of a difference.
