The "no healthy upstream" error means the client or the user device is not connecting to Reddit's servers. This is a server-side issue, and there's nothing wrong with your device.

According to Down Detector, there were major server issues at around 1 am PST on October 16, 2024. This is right around the time when users started reporting about the error on X.

How to possibly fix the "no healthy upstream" error

While this is a server-side issue, there is a workaround you can do to access Reddit:

  • Launch a browser. Make sure it's a modern browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.
  • Type old.reddit.com in the address bar and press enter.
  • That's it. You can now log in and access Reddit as usual.

This Reddit site features the old user interface that some users may not like. That said, it is your only option to access Reddit until the company fixes its servers. As of now, the servers running the old site have not been affected by the issue affecting the new site.

On top of this, you can use the unofficial Reddit Enhancement Suite to improve the experience of the old site. It's a browser extension that can be installed on every modern browser. Unfortunately, since the extension requires a browser, this fix will not work for the Reddit app.
