The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, on the other hand, is launched for a $100 price hike and is now available for a starting price of $1899.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Display
The Galaxy Z Fold6 has a foldable 7.6-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz LTPO support, which can automatically switch the on-screen refresh rate based on the content you are watching. Samsung has also finally given LTPO support on the cover display as well. It measures 6.3 inches in size and comes with a wide 21:9 aspect ratio.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a single 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz LTPO support. Samsung has provided a flat panel this time, instead of the curved screens in the last two iterations. Both the main display units have 2600 nits of peak brightness. However, the cover screen of the Galaxy Z Fold6 offers much lower 1600 nits of peak brightness, which makes it hard to use under direct sunlight.
Both smartphones come with stylus support. But Samsung has provided a built-in slot for the stylus or S-pen, whereas, with the Z Fold6, you will have to purchase it separately and attach it with a third-party case.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Performance, battery
Both smartphones are powered by the latest and most powerful Android chipset to date, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. This chipset promises better thermal efficiency and performance over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and supports lots of generative AI features.
Both devices also come with 12GB RAM with up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. However, in the battery department, they differ a lot. The S24 Ultra comes with a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging support, whereas the ZFold6 like the last year's Z Fold5 is backed up by a 4,400mAh battery pack. Sadly it still supports a maximum charging speed of 25W.
You can expect a similar screen on time (SOT) from both smartphones, and they can easily last for a full day of moderate usage. In terms of charging speed, the phones have a difference of less than 20 minutes, if you top up the battery from 0 to 100%.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Camera
The Galaxy Z Fold6 comes with no changes in the camera department from the Galaxy Z Fold5. We get the same 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. However, Samsung has included lots of new features on the software front, including new AI features on the camera app as well.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a quad camera setup. It has a high-resolution 200MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto with support for 100X digital zoom, a 10MP telephoto with 3X zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. All of these lenses deliver one of the best camera experiences you will ever get on any smartphone.
While shooting videos or in daylighting conditions, both phones click highly detailed images and videos with minimal noise. However, the S24 Ultra produces slightly brighter images and videos in low light, making it a much better smartphone to use in darker environments. The 100X digital zoom on the S24 Ultra also helps to click far-off objects with ease.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Verdict
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy S24 Ultra are both flagship Samsung smartphones at different price points. The Z Fold6 symbolizes the future with a tablet and normal smartphone embedded into one single device. The S24 Ultra arguably provides one of the best camera experiences you will get on any smartphone, with adequate power and the suitability of innovative features such as a built-in stylus or the S-pen.
If you favor cameras as your top smartphone feature, the Galaxy S24 Ultra should be your preferred choice among the two. However, if you want to experience the world of foldable with an all-rounder experience at a $600 price hike, the Z Fold6 would be a better choice.
