5 things I want to see in the PlayStation 6
It hasn't been very long since the release of the PS5, so expecting the PlayStation 6 in the near future would be quite unrealistic. The PS5 was a big step ahead compared to the PS4, but it wasn't perfect. Nevertheless, we can still discuss the things that were lacking in the PlayStation 5 and should be fixed in its successor.
Well, as with most next-gen consoles, certain things like a performance upgrade are mandatory and expected. So in this article, we'll be discussing things outside those points and what can be expected from the PlayStation 6.

Things I'd like to see in the PlayStation 6
1) Day one releases on the PS Plus
One of the most exciting things I'd like to see on the Sony PlayStation 6 is the inclusion of day-one releases on PlayStation Plus. This would allow the subscribers to have access to brand-new games at no additional cost and would provide immense value and convenience.
Imagine being able to download and play the latest games as soon as they launch, without having to make a separate purchase. This would be a game-changer, pun intended, and could significantly boost the PS Plus' appeal, making it an essential subscription for any PlayStation fan. Microsoft has experimented with this concept with Xbox Game Pass, and it's been a massive success. So a precedent is well in place.
2) Cheaper options like Xbox Series S
I think having the provision of opting for a cheaper PlayStation alternative would be a big plus point. Not everyone can afford the premium price tag of a mainline PlayStation 6 console, so having a less-powered system can be a wise choice. It's just as Xbox did with the Series S and Nintendo with the Switch Lite.
While both these consoles didn't sell like the main ones, they still served as a great budget-friendly option that gamers could go for if they were a bit tight on the budget. A cheaper option would serve as a great entry point for younger gamers as well.
3) Back buttons on the DualSense controller
The DualSense controller is one of the most advanced peripherals available today. The adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are incredible. However, it does have certain things that I feel could do with some improvement. Even though you don't get the back buttons on the stock Xbox controllers, you can always go for the Xbox Elite gamepads that do have the provision.
With the PlayStation 6, Sony can try and introduce a new controller, featuring back buttons along with standard features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. This would further add value to the game console's overall experience.
4) Better backward compatibility with older consoles
PlayStation 5 offers backward compatibility with most PS4 games, along with select PS3, PS2, and PS1 games. However, there are many that aren't compatible. Sony could fix these with the release of the PlayStation 6 and make the older titles digitally available for download via the PS Plus membership.
Being able to play all the PS eras on your brand-new PlayStation 6 would be an absolute treat, especially for gamers who've been around for quite a while and have seen the console develop over the years.
5) Sleeker design
A sleeker design is something I feel everyone would really appreciate. The PS5 is huge and takes up a lot of space. Even the Slim version is quite big, and apart from the slight reduction in width, it is still just as tall as the PS5. With the PS6, I feel Sony could really trim down on the size and offer a more streamlined design.
It should be able to strike a balance between form and function, with a design that is both appealing and practical. It's a small fix, but I think that alone would be a great feature to add to the new PlayStation.
