Xbox servers down: Current status and problems
The Xbox servers went down at around 4 pm on October 2, 2024, which is a bit surprising since we saw a similar issue on the PlayStation side two days ago. According to the official Xbox Live status page, some account-related services are either completely down or in limited capacity. However, the Xbox Store and other store-related services are up and running.

Xbox server's current status
DownDetector is a major real-time network outage monitoring service, which has been tracking the Xbox server issues since the beginning. Even the official Xbox Live status page is reporting the same thing. However, not every Xbox service is currently offline.
According to the official status page, the only services that seem to be affected are the account & profile, friends & social activity, and cloud gaming & remote play pages. Meanwhile, other services, including the store and subscription, are working just fine.
When did the Xbox servers go down?
According to DownDetector, the first Xbox Live service down reports came around 4 pm on October 2, 2024. There have been over 4,000 reports claiming the same issues, but that is for the US alone. The actual number is probably much larger since this is a global issue and not isolated to the USA alone.
A few Xbox servers were supposed to go down for routine maintenance, but as it turns out, almost all the servers went down in the process. Users quickly took to X to complain about the server issues.
One user, @iunarihs_, explained their frustration regarding this issue since it happened just as he was about to play Baldur's Gate 3 with mods. Other users are also complaining about similar issues.
Is it related to the recent PlayStation Network outage?
PlayStation Network also suffered a similar fate on September 30, 2024, which lasted for long hours. The entire PlayStation Network went offline, but in the case of the Xbox Live, only a few services are down.
When can one expect the Xbox servers to be fixed?
Xbox has acknowledged the issue on X. The company has reported that it is aware of the current services and that an update will be provided as soon as servers are back online. Microsoft requested users to keep an eye out on the official Xbox Live status page.
