Zenless Zone Zero HoYoverse "account or password" error: Reasons, possible fixes, and more

Zenless Zone Zero is now out, and gamers across platforms are facing a bunch of errors while logging in. One of the most common issues is the HoYoverse "account or password" error, which completely stops you from accessing the title. This can be rather frustrating, given you can't play the game at all. The problem hasn't been patched either, further complicating things for players.

The Zenless Zone Zero HoYoverse 'account or password" error generally pops up when you log in to the HoYoVerse account.

The issue can particularly arise if you try to get the game up and running on a new device. Some users have also reported a slightly different form of the error in which they can get past the credentials stage and get locked at the verification screen. While one cause of the error can be wrong credentials, some players have encountered it even after entering the correct login details.

Possible fixes to Zenless Zone Zero HoYoverse "account or password" error

A number of fixes have been recommended by players who got the game up and running after facing the "account or password" error. Do note that these might not work for everybody. The general workarounds are listed below:

Fix 1: Reset your HoYoverse account password

Go to "Account" in the game's settings.
Next, go to "Change password."
From here, you can reset your password and try logging in to the game again. Make sure you do this on a device that's logged in to the email ID that you used for your HoYoLab account.

The error key still pops up after this fix for some players. If it's not addressed, try the next fix.

Fix 2: Reset account password from HoYoverse website

If you can't change the password from within the game, head over to https://hoyoverse.com/en/home and log in with your existing account details.
Next, go to your account page at https://account.hoyoverse.com
Link your username to ZZZ.
Now, try to log in to the game with your username instead of email.

Fix 3: Contact HoYoverse support

If none of these fixes work in Zenless Zone Zero, you should try raising a customer service ticket at the HoYoverse website. This error could also arise if your account has been compromised. If you have spent any money on the game, we highly recommend getting in touch with support.
