About Afghanistan Premier League 2018

Afghanistan Premier League is an upcoming Twenty20 tournament which will be organised by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and played in the United Arab Emirates. The 2018 Afghanistan Premier League will be it's introductory season which is scheduled to take place between 5 and 21 October at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Participating teams

Five teams have been selected to participate in this tournament and each team is named after regions of Afghanistan. These teams are Balkh Legends (Mazar-i-Sharif), Kabul Zwanan (Kabul), Kandahar Knights (Kandahar), Nangarhar Leopards (Jalalabad) and Paktia Panthers (Khost, Loya Paktia).

Matches

A total of 23 matches will be played during 2018 APL in a time interval of 17 days. Out of these 23 matches, 20 will be played at the league stage in which each of the five teams will play the other four teams for once.

The top four teams in the Points Table will qualify for the semi finals and the two winners of the two two semi final matches will lock horn in the finals to grab the title.

Broadcasters

D Sports has acquired the broadcasting rights for Afghanistan Premier League in India which will be telecasted live on the Indian television sets from 5th to 21st October.

Players to watch out for

The league is set to witness a plenty of famous names are set to take part in the inaugural edition of the Afghanistan Premier League. The league will include the likes of Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi, Andre Russell and Brendon McCullum. Along with global icons, the league will also feature local Afghan star names like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shahzad, Mohammad Nabi and Asghar Afghan.
