About BPL
The eighth season of the Bangladesh Premier League is scheduled to begin from 21 January 2022 and will conclude on 18 February 2022.

Organised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, the competition was earlier scheduled to start from March 2021. However, later on, it was decided to rescheduled to be held from 21 January to 18 February 2022.
What’s New in BPL 8?
This season of the Bangladesh Premier League will be run solely by the BPL without taking any franchises. The responsibility to manage the team's travel and accommodation will be on the BCB. The teams have also been asked to appoint a BCB director as their team director.
The board has announced that Each team is allowed to play a maximum of three overseas players in a match, Each franchise is allowed to sign one local players from any category as direct signing prior to the players' draft, and a maximum of 3 foreign players can be recruited as direct signing and Each franchise is allowed to sign a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 14 local players while a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 can be signed, in the case of foreign players.
Teams
There will be a total of six teams competing in the BPL 2022. Earlier this year, it was announced that Chittagong Vikings will not take in this edition of the tournament and will be replaced by two new teams. However, the idea of having eight teams was cancelled and Chittagong Vikings were reinstated after being renamed to Chattogram Challengers. Comilla Victorians are the defending champions of the BPL. The final six teams participating in the tournament are:

- Fortune Barishal
- Khulna Tigers
- Minister Dhaka
- Sylhet Sunrisers
The player draft was held on 27 December 2021 and all the squads were confirmed during the draft. One day before the draft, BPL Governing Council unveiled the logo of the eighth season of Bangladesh Premier League.

Venues
All the matches of the BPL 2022 will be played at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet.
Format
Each team will play every other team twice in the league stage. The top four teams will advance to the play-off stage. The top two teams will play the Qualifier 1, the winner of which will go directly to the final. The third and fourth-placed team will play in the Eliminator where the losing side will be knocked out of the tournament. The loser of Qualifier 1 will face the winner of Eliminator in Qualifier 2. The final will be played between the winner of Qualifier 1 and 2.
