Charleston Open (WTA) Venue
The Charleston Open is held at the Credit One Stadium - an arena named after the tournament’s main sponsor. It is located within the Family Circle Tennis Center on Daniel Island in Charleston, USA. It is a massive 17-court complex, and is the only venue in the world to host a green clay court WTA tournament. The main stadium has a 10,000+ capacity.
The Credit One Stadium was constructed back in 2001, and saw a major expansion in 2022. The masterminds behind the reconstruction were the Geiger Engineers. While the initial construction cost was around $15 million, the renovation of the stadium added up to $40 million. Interestingly, the renovation was majorly funded by Ben Navarro and his wife Kelly - they are the parents of American tennis starlet Emma Navarro.
