About IND vs AUS
India vs Australia is known to produce emphatic encounters whenever they cross paths in international cricket. Fans are always eager to see these two heavyweights go in action against one another. Be it any format, the aggression, intensity, and match-up between players is one that is separate from any other.
The two teams will square off once again as Australia tours India in February 2023 which will consist of 4 Test matches and 3 ODIs. Starting with the red ball format, India and Australia series will kick off in Nagpur for the first Test from Feb 9-13. The ODIs will be next to follow with the first match to be played in Mumbai on 17 March.
The Border-Gavaskar trophy is currently with India after their historic 2-1 victory in Australia. They have won the previous three editions of the championship. Australia was defeated by a 2-1 margin the last time they toured India in 2017.
This tour is crucial with a lot at stake for both teams. Starting with the longest format of the game, India vs Australia will play their last series as part of the World Test Championship 2023. At the moment, Australia is up there at the number 1 spot with 75.56% points. Next is India with 58.93% points and the road to the final is still wide open with Sri Lanka, and South Africa still in contention.
For Australia, they need to draw at least one match with India to book their birth in the final. Whereas for India, they are required to win with a margin of 3-1 or better to qualify. If they fail to do so, the result of the 2-match series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand will come into play. Hence, it is quite visible that both India and Australia would bank on this series to confirm their spot in the top 2. We can expect a crackerjack of a series as everything is on the line for the two champion sides.
Coming to the ODIs, the ICC World Cup is just a few months away to be played in Oct 2023 which will be hosted by India. The two teams have automatically qualified for the tournament and this is the time they’ll look to strike the right balance in their squad as they get ready for the cup. Thus, this is a vital opportunity for India and Australia to prepare their players and get their form up and running.
