About IND-W vs ENG-W
The Indian women’s cricket team will be travelling to England for an all-format bilateral series against the home side. This is a major development in the women’s game, especially for India. The Indian Women will be playing their second Test post November 2014. The entire Indian squad selected for the Test format has played a combined total of 30 Tests with their senior most players Jhulan Goswami and captain Mithali Raj contributing 20 of those.
The series would probably have more attention than any other bilateral series that the Indian Women have played in their careers. The team and the newly-appointed coach Romesh Powar are confident that they can do well in their second bilateral series.
History
Surprisingly, the Indian Women, who have played far less Test cricket than the England Women's cricket team, have a better record against them. In 13 Women’s Tests between the two teams, the Indian Women have won two and lost one as the remaining 10 matches ended in draws. They had no wins in the first 11 encounters and have won the last 2 - in 2006 and in 2014, both in England.
When it comes to ODI cricket, the two teams are quite at par with the English having an upper hand. In 69 IND W vs ENG W ODIs, the Indians have won 30 and lost 37. The remaining two games ended as ‘No Result’.
In T20I cricket, England Women have been hugely dominating with 15 wins and just 4 losses in 19 matches against the Indian side. However, it could change a bit after the upcoming series as these two teams haven’t played each other in a T20I in England since 2012.
