About Ningbo Open

Ningbo Open is a WTA 250 professional tournament played on outdoor hardcourts. This seventh edition will be held at Ningbo (Yinzhou) Tennis Center from October 14 to October 20, 2024. Ningbo Open was earlier part of the WTA 125k tournament, later upgraded to the WTA 250 tournament.

The tournament was previously known as the Yinzhou Bank Ningbo International Women's Tennis Open. The Ningbo Open will award 250 points to the singles and doubles categories winner. There will be 32 players competing in the singles draw and 16 teams in the doubles draw.

Alberta Brianti emerged as the winner of the maiden edition of the Ningbo Open. The Ningbo International Tennis Open also included a men's event - Ningbo Challenger. With the inaugural edition played in 2011, the event was discontinued in 2012 but later commenced in 2015 till 2019. Petra Kvitova, Ons Jabeur, Laura Siegemund, and Chan Yung-jan are some of the prominent players who competed at the Ningbo Open

Ningbo Open History

The debut edition of the Ningbo Open was introduced as the $100,000 ITF Challenger in 2010. Alberta Brianti won the tournament in the singles category, and the duo of Chen Yi and Chan Chin-wei won in the doubles category. It was later upgraded to a WTA 125k tournament in 2013, with Bojana Jovanovski emerging victorious. The Ningbo Open was discontinued after the 2014 edition.

The tournament returned to the WTA professional tournament list in 2023, having been upgraded from WTA125k to WTA 250. Ons Jabeur won the reintroduced edition of the Ningbo Open in the singles category, while Vera Zvonareva and Laura Siegemund won the tournament in the doubles category.
