PGA Tour History
The PGA Tour, or the Professional Golfers' Association Tour, is one of the premier professional golf tours in the world, in the United States and North America. The PGA Tour was established way back in 1916. It's an organisation of leading professional golfers playing and competing to promote the sport and organise tournaments for its members. Though back when it started, the PGA wasn't as popular as it is now.
Even though the structure hasn't changed much over the years, it had a very humble beginning. Back when it started, the Tour consisted of a series of events, and players would win prize money based on their performance.
However, the prize money was modest compared to what players win today! For example, the first-ever PGA Tournament was played in 1916 in the Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, New York, and the winner, Jim Barnes, received a prize money of only $500!
