About Plunket Shield 2024
The 2024–25 Plunket Shield was the 96th season of the Plunket Shield, the domestic first-class cricket competition that is played in New Zealand. The tournament started on 11 November 2024, and the final round of matches began on 1 April 2025.
Wellington are the defending champions of the Plunket Shield, The 2023-24 Plunket Shield win was their 22nd Plunket Shield win.
The other five teams competing in the competition are the Northern Districts, Central Districts, Canterbury, Auckland, and Otago. Auckland is the most successful team in the competition with 23 titles to their name.
All the matches in the competition are 4-day matches. The schedule for the 2022-23 season was confirmed recently. The opening two matches of the tournament are Otago Volts vs Central Stags, Northern Districts v/s Canterbury, and Auckland v/s Wellington.
