About Super Smash 2024

Super Smash 2022 is scheduled to take place from 26 November 2021 to 29 January 2022. This will be the seventeenth season of the Super Smash, the premier Twenty20 tournament of New Zealand. The tournament is administered by New Zealand Cricket. The tournament has been held every year since its inception in 2005. The Central Stags are the defending champions

Teams

There are a total of six teams in the tournament. Every team has won the title at least once in the history of the tournament. The teams are:

  1. Auckland Aces
  2. Canterbury Kings
  3. Central Stags
  4. Northern Brave
  5. Otago Volts
  6. Wellington Firebirds

Venues

Super Smash 2022 will be played at following eleven venues.

Hagley Oval in Christchurch, Eden Park Outer Oval in Auckland, University of Otago Oval in Dunedin, Seddon Park in Hamilton, Basin Reserve in Wellington, McLean Park in Napier, Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, Fitzherbert Park in Palmerston North, Queenstown Events Centre in Queenstown, Pukekura Park in New Plymouth and Cobham Oval in Whangarei.

Format

The tournament follows a round-robin format followed by the Preliminary Final and the Final. Each team play twice against every other team in the group stage. The team topping the table qualify directly for the Final. The second and third-placed teams play the Preliminary Final, the winner proceeding to the Final.
