About TNPL 2024
The sixth edition of the TNPL (Tamil Nadu Premier League) will begin on June 23, 2022, and conclude on July 31, 2022. The TNPL has been held every year since its inception in 2016, with the exception of 2020, when it was cancelled owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
TNPL History
The Tamil Nadu Premier League had its initiation in 2016, formed by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) to showcase the local talent on a bigger stage. The inaugural edition of the TNPL was won by the Tuti Patriots while the second, fourth and sixth edition was won by Chepauk Super Gillies. Siechem Madurai Panthers emerged as the winners of third edition of TNPL.
Tamil Nadu Premier League Format
In the TNPL 2022, 32 matches will be played over 39 days. The tournament, which is being organised by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), will feature eight teams. In a round-robin format, each of the eight teams will play every other team in the event. The top four teams in the standings will advance to the playoffs.
On July 26, 2022, the top two teams will compete in Qualifier 1, with the victor advancing to the Final. On July 27, 2022, the third and fourth-placed teams will compete in the Eliminator. On July 29, 2022, the victor of the Eliminator will face the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2. The winner of Qualifier 2 will face the winner of Qualifier 1 in the Final on July 31, 2022.
TNPL 2022 Venue
The TNPL 2022 will be held in four cities: Tirunelveli's Indian Cement Company Ground, Dindigul's NPR College Ground, Coimbatore's SNR College Cricket Ground, and Salem's Salem Cricket Foundation Stadium.
