Wells Fargo Championship History
Established in 2003 as the "Wachovia Championship," the Wells Fargo Championship is a professional golf tournament held in North Carolina. It has been referred to as the "Quail Hollow Championship" earlier. Some of the best players on the tour have attended the event, which is typically held in early May at Charlotte's Quail Hollow Club.
There have been two occasions where the event's location has had to be altered. The first happened in 2017 while Quail Hollow was holding the PGA Championship, and Wells Fargo took place at Wilmington's Eagle Point Golf Club. The other occasion came in 2022, when Wells Fargo was held at the TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, Maryland, because Quail Hollow was hosting the Presidents Cup.
The tournament finished in a playoff for both the 2004–06 and 2011–13 seasons. Furthermore, the event features one of the most difficult finishes on the circuit, with holes 16, 17, and 18, together referred to as the "Green Mile," frequently ranking among the most difficult on the PGA circuit. The majority of the tournament's charitable revenues, which are organized by Champions for Education, Inc., go toward supporting Teach for America.

Wells Fargo Championship 2024 Course
Quail Hollow Club, situated in Charlotte, North Carolina's Quail Hollow neighborhood, is a country club and golf course in the Southeast region of the United States. Founded in 1959, with the golf course's opening in 1961, the club is exclusive to members only.
Former home of the Kemper Open from 1969 to 1979, Quail Hollow is now the site of the PGA Tour's Wells Fargo Championship, which has been held there since 2003. In addition, the Presidents Cup was held there in 2022 and the PGA Championship in 2017.
George Cobb, a golf course architect who mostly created courses in the southeast of the country, created the 18-hole championship course at Quail Hollow. Since its 1961 opening, the course has seen multiple renovations, including Arnold Palmer altering a few holes in 1986 and Tom Fazio designing it in 1997, 2003, and again from 2014 to 2016 for the PGA Championship. The course is situated at an average elevation of about 600 feet (185 meters) above sea level.
