About Women's T20 Challenge 2022

The Women's T20 Challenge is a short equivalent of the Indian Premier League for the women. A total of three teams called Trailblazers, Supernovas and Velocity in the T20 tournament contested by female cricketers from a lot of cricket-playing nations.

The Women's T20 Challenge 2022 will be the fourth season of the competition, which was created by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2018. It will be a three-team competition, similar to the previous edition, with a group round of three matches followed by a final.

After the grand success of the Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia, the Women’s T20 Challenge, as it is called, might have been a bigger tournament.

History

Women’s IPL 2020 will be the third season of the Women’s T20 Challenge tournament that began in 2018. In 2018, IPL Trailblazers and IPL Supernovas were the only two participating teams and played a one-off game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Supernovas went on to win the thriller on the last ball.

A third team called IPL Velocity was added in 2019. They faced the defending champions in the Final but it was once again the IPL Supernovas who won the game on the final ball.

Format

The Women's T20 Challenge in Lucknow in 2022 will feature the same three teams. In the league stage, each of the three teams will face the other two teams once. The three league stage games are scheduled for May 23, 24, and 26.

On May 28, the top two teams in the points table will compete in the Final at the same venue.

Venues

All the four matches of the tournament will be played at the Lucknow's BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium.
