About WWE Hell In A Cell
WWE Hell in a Cell is an annual pay-per-view, scheduled for June. The event gets its name from the flagship Hell in a Cell match, that is featured on the card. It was earlier organized around October but was shifted to its current schedule in 2021. Although the WWE Hell in a Cell PPV began in 2009, the WWE Universe witnessed the first Hell in a Cell match, back in 1997.
Hell in a Cell match is a modified version of the Steel Cage match, featuring an approximate 20 ft Cell structure that surrounds the ring. During a Hell in a Cell match, there is usually no disqualification, no count-out, and only pinfalls and submissions can lead to victory.

WWE Hell in a Cell History
The first-ever Hell in a Cell match, featuring The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, apparently had a 16 ft tall Cell. Although the concept was to prevent outside influences from hampering the outcome of the match, Shawn Michaels went on to win courtesy of interference from the debuting Kane.
The punishment inflicted by the wrestlers upon each other during a Hell in a Cell match has resulted in it to be termed as a ‘demonic structure’. Both Jim Cornette and Vince Russo have claimed to be the brain behind Hell in a Cell, however, WWE credits the ‘Last Battle of Atlanta’ match between Tommy Rich and Buzz Sawyer to be the source.
