4 golfers at the Paris Olympics who have previously won a medal

The 2024 Paris Olympics field is set and all golfers are ready to compete. There are a lot of extremely talented players ready to compete for their countries, but only a select few (including men and women) have ever won a medal before.

This is partly because golf was not a part of the Olympic circuit for a very long time. The women competed in 1900, while the men competed in 1900 and 1904.

After that, neither group was featured until 2016 - over a century later. They have since not missed a Summer Olympics, but that means very few have ever won medals and even fewer have and are able to add a second one to their tally this year.

Lydia Ko won the bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (which were held in 2021 due to COVID-19). She reenters the field this time three years later and has a chance to become the first two-time Olympic medalist in women's golf. She faces stiff competition with the world's best golfers all in Paris right now, but she is one of the very few who've been on this stage before and come out victorious.

C.T. Pan earned the bronze medal at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. It may not have been the gold medal, but he had to fight to earn this one. There was a seven-man playoff for the bronze medal which included Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Paul Casey, and Hideki Matsuyama. That kind of experience might be what he can lean on in Paris to become the first-ever two-time Olympic medalist in golf.

2) Nelly Korda

Nelly Korda has had a fantastic season that includes six wins (in eight starts) and a Major championship. It's her second Major, and she has the chance to equal that total with Olympic medals this year. Despite some struggles of late, she's still one of the favorites and is the defending gold medalist from Tokyo. If she wins anything, she'll be the first two-time medalist in golf and her second medal would completely change her ever-growing legacy.

1) Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele is in the same boat as Nelly Korda. He had a historic year leading into the Olympics and could be a two-time medalist with a win this year. Having already secured his first two Major wins at the PGA Championship and The Open, Schauffele could match Korda if they both earn another medal in Paris. A victory would solidify his status as an all-time great.
