5 big-name golfers playing in the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship ft. Rory McIlroy

In its next stop, the DP World Tour will be heading to Abu Dhabi for the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. This is the first playoff event on the tour and will be played at the Yas Links Golf Course in Abu Dhabi from Thursday, November 7th, to Sunday, November 10th.

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship will feature 70 players in the field who will compete for a prize purse of $9,000,000. Among the 70 golfers at the tournament, eight are ranked in the top 50.

Here are five big names who are set to compete at the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship:

#5. Shane Lowry

Irish professional golfer Shane Lowry is one of the marquee names set to compete in the upcoming tournament in Abu Dhabi. Lowry heads into the tournament after finishing T12 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the DP World Tour last month.

While Lowry has not registered a single win on the European tour this season, he came close to winning on many occasions. In six appearances on the DP World Tour this year, Lowry finished in the top 20 on five occasions.

#4. Tyrrell Hatton

World No. 21 Tyrrell Hatton will be one of the most-watched names at the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Hatton won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last month and looked very good en route to his victory.

This win was Hatton's second professional win in 2024 as he previously won LIV Golf Nashville. Overall, the British golfer has registered some decent performances on LIV Golf and the DP World Tour. It will be interesting to see how he does at the tournament in Abu Dhabi.

#3. Robert MacIntyre

Robert MacIntyre will be searching for his fourth professional win on the DP World Tour at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. This year, the World No. 16 did extremely well on the PGA Tour. MacIntyre was victorious at the RBC Canadian Open and the Genesis Scottish Open.

While MacIntyre's success on the PGA Tour is yet to translate to the DP World Tour in 2024, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship could be the place where MacIntyre might get his first win on the tour this season.

#2. Tommy Fleetwood

In terms of tournament victories, Tommy Fleetwood hasn't achieved a lot of success in 2024. However, Fleetwood's only professional win this year came on the DP World Tour when the 33-year-old was victorious at the Dubai Invitational held in January.

Given Fleetwood is returning to the UAE for the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, he will be a name to watch out for at the upcoming event. He also finished 3rd at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

#1. Rory McIlroy

The biggest name at the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is arguably Rory McIlroy. This year, McIlroy has two wins on the PGA Tour and one win on the DP World Tour.

His most recent win came on the latter which makes him a player to watch out for at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
