5 golfers in danger of losing their LPGA Tour cards ft. Anna Nordqvist
With only two tournaments remaining on the LPGA Tour's regular schedule, all eyes are on the circuit's internal rankings, known as the Race to CME Globe. The top 60 will qualify for the Tour Championship, but those outside the top 100 will lose their full membership card.
Several players with illustrious LPGA Tour careers are on the verge of not returning in 2025. This group will be among the most closely watched at both the LOTTE Championship and the ANNIKA driven, the final two starts of the season.
Let's take a look at five of the top players in this group.
5 Golfers in Danger of Losing Their LPGA Tour Cards
The top 100 in the Race to the CM Globe is currently held by Haeji Kang with 207,862 points. Each of the two remaining regular tournaments will award 500 points to the winner.
#1 Anna Nordqvist
The 3-time major champion has failed to finish in the top 10 all season. Anna Nordqvist has had at least one top-10 finish since her rookie season in 2009.
In 2024, she made 15 cuts in 21 tournaments, which placed her 71st in the world. However, she is just over 200 points away from cracking the top 100 and is only scheduled to play the ANNIKA driven. Hence, she needs a good finish to keep her LPGA Tour card.
#2 Danielle Kang
Another major champion in danger of losing her card for next season is Danielle Kang. Her case is more complicated as she is ranked 138th with only 87,342, meaning she practically has to win at least one of the two remaining tournaments to keep her aspirations of playing at the highest level in 2025 alive.
Kang has made the cut in only half of the tournaments she has played this season (9 out of 18). Her best finish of the year was a tie for 27th at the Dow Championship.
#3 Georgia Hall
The major champion from England currently sits inside the top 100 (74th) but is just over 200 points ahead of the player who closes out the group. Georgia Hall is only scheduled to play in the ANNIKA driven, giving her only one more chance to secure her LPGA Tour card.
Hall has played in 18 events this season, making 15 cuts. Her only top-10 finish was a tie for 5th at the Dow Championship with compatriot and friend Charley Hull.
#4 Emily Kristine Pedersen
The European Solheim Cup star has two Top 10 finishes in 2024 but has missed nine cuts in 23 events. That puts her 83rd in the Race to CME Globe, just 150 points inside the top 100.
Emily Kristine Pedersen is in the field for the final two events of the LPGA Tour season.
#5 Cheyenne Knight
In 2024, Cheyenne Knight could not match her previous season's results, when she had five top 5 finishes, including a win. Those results earned her a spot on the American team at the Solheim Cup in Finca Cortesin, Spain.
In the current season, Knight has two top-10 finishes but has missed nine cuts in 23 tournaments. Those results keep her ranked 81st in the Race to CME Globe, although she has two more opportunities to move up the leaderboard.
