5 impressive shots at the 2024 US Open ft. Bryson DeChambeau
There were quite a lot of golf shots over the 72-hole weekend at the US Open. Some of them were pressure-packed, while others were feats of excellence not commonly seen on any golf course, let alone one as challenging as Pinehurst No. 2. These five golfers put in some of their best efforts and it paid off with some highlights that fans won't be forgetting anytime soon.

5) Matthieu Pavon eagle on 10th
Though the tournament didn't ultimately end in victory, Matthieu Pavon had an excellent outing. His first round was excellent and there is no better proof than his incredible Eagle shot on the 10th hole. He calmly putted from a precarious distance to Eagle and took the solo lead. It was the second eagle of the day for Pavon, who had done the same on the par-five fifth hole earlier in the day.
4) Sahith Theegala chip-in on 15th
During the second round, Sahith Theegala sent fans and broadcasters into a frenzy with his impressive chip-in for birdie. The ball was in a difficult spot to begin with, but Theegala expertly curved it towards the hole. It would have been an excellent par save if not for a final curve that allowed it to improbably drop right into the cup, prompting a shout of "Oh, what a play!" from the broadcasting crew.
3) Francesco Molinari ace on 9th
The ninth hole at the US Open was full of excitement, especially during the second round. Francesco Molinari was +7, two over the expected and eventual cut line. He couldn't have asked for a better performance here, as he nailed the ace. The ball bounced pretty far away but kept rolling and curving directly towards the cup. With only one hole remaining, Molinari's ace allowed him to keep playing in rounds three and four.
2) Sepp Straka ace on 9th
Sepp Straka had one of the most impressive shots of the entire year on the par-three ninth at Pinehurst No. 2. The first nine of the golfer's second round of the US Open finished with an improbable ace (the second such shot on this hole during that round). He launched off the tee perfectly, and the ball landed almost exactly in line with the cup. It curved ever so slightly as it rolled the remaining few feet into the hole.
1) Bryson DeChambeau bunker shot on 18th
Bryson DeChambeau called his bunker shot on the 18th hole the best he's ever had. It was effectively to win the US Open as it allowed an easy putt for par, which confirmed his one-stroke lead over Rory McIlroy. It was not an easy shot, though, and DeChambeau's opening shots made it seem like the hole was destined for a bogey and a playoff for the title. He calmly played it out of the bunker and within a couple of feet of the hole in impressive fashion, saving par and the tournament.
