5 LIV golfers to watch at The Open Championship 2024 ft. US Open champ Bryson DeChambeau

The Open Championship is the next big tournament on the professional golf circuit. Set to take place at the iconic and challenging Royal Troon Golf Club, this year's edition of The Open will begin on July 18 and conclude on July 21. This edition of the Major championship will feature some of the best golfers.

While some of the PGA Tour's biggest stars like Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods will be playing at the tournament, LIV Golf is also well represented at The Open Championship. In total, there will be 18 players from the Saudi-backed league who will be playing at the Royal Troon.

However, let's take a look at the five LIV golfers fans must watch out for at The Open Championship 2024:

#5 Jon Rahm will be a player to watch at The Open Championship

At the 2024 PGA Championship, Jon Rahm carded 70-72 in the first two rounds and did not make the cut. Later, he missed the US Open due to an injury to his foot. Hence, the Spanish golfer will be looking towards The Open Championship with a lot of hope.

Since returning from injury, Rahm has looked great on the golf course. He managed to register some good finishes in the last two tournaments he played on the LIV Tour. While he tied for third place at LIV Golf Nashville, Rahm tied for 10th place at LIV Golf Andalucia.

#4 Brooks Koepka

Brooks Koepka's 2024 season on the LIV Golf Tour has been nothing short of spectacular. From registering top-10 and top-20 finishes to winning an event, Koepka is having a good time on the tour. The American's victory this season came at LIV Golf Singapore.

While things are looking good for him in LIV Golf, Koepka hasn't necessarily been able to translate his performance in Major competitions. While he made the cut in all three Majors this season, Koepka is still searching for a top-20 finish. It will be interesting to see what he does at The Open Championship.

#3 David Puig

David Puig will be one of the most exciting young talents at The Open Championship 2024. Unlike some of his experienced counterparts, the 22-year-old will be making his first appearance at The Open. Before this, Puig has played in the US Open and the PGA Championship.

This year, the youngster played in both of the above-mentioned Majors. While he missed the cut at the PGA Championship, Puig finished 55th at the US Open. It will be interesting to see if Puig is able to use his talent to shock some of the biggest players at The Open.

#2 Cameron Smith

Even though Cameron Smith is hunting for his first win on the LIV Golf tour this season, his form in the tournament has been decent. Smith has displayed good putting and chipping to register decent finishes in several LIV tournaments this year.

At the 2024 Masters as well, Smith tied for 6th place which was a great finish given the competition. It will be worth watching if Smith, known for his calm demeanor on the golf course, is able to lift the trophy at the Royal Troon Golf Club.

#1 Bryson DeChambeau

At Pinehurst No. 2, Bryson DeChambeau defied the odds to win the 2024 US Open. In the last round of the tournament, DeChambeau beat the experienced Rory McIlroy to win the tournament. Before the US Open, DeChambeau also achieved T6 and a second-place finish at the Masters and PGA Championship, respectively.

Given his good run of form in Major competitions this season, DeChambeau will be a massive favorite to win The Open Championship 2024. If DeChambeau does end up winning at the Royal Troon, he will be clinching the third Major championship of his professional golf career.
