5 things you didn't know about Scottie Scheffler and his wife Meredith Scudder

WM Phoenix Open champion Scottie Scheffler has definitely aced it with his wife Meredith Scudder off the field. The 2022 Masters champion has climbed his way back to the top as the No.1 in the Official World Golf Rankings after defending his title at the Phoenix Open this past month.

He was seen celebrating his win with his wife after securing the win, garnering adoration amongst the spectators. Scheffler and his wife were high school sweethearts, who then went on to conquer four years of a long-distance relationship due to college.

Scheffler and Scudder tied the knot in 2020 after 6 years of dating.

1) Faith plays a key role in their life

The pro golfer has never shied away from the public eye pertaining to his faith. He's an openly religious Christian. He re-instated his belief during an appearance in 2018 on the Sports Spectrum Podcast.

“The reason why I play golf is I’m trying to glorify God and all that He’s done in my life,” said Scheffler. “So for me, my identity isn’t a golf score. Like Meredith told me this morning, ‘If you win this golf tournament today, if you lose this golf tournament by 10 shots, if you never win another golf tournament again.
"She goes, ‘I’m still going to love you, you’re still going to be the same person, Jesus loves you and nothing changes.’ All I’m trying to do is glorify God and that’s why I’m here and that’s why I’m in this position.”

2) Meredith Scudder is a director of the non-profit Behind Every Door

Scudder is the director of creating opportunities for the community centers in Dallas that Behind Every Door caters to. This non-profit organization curates programs focused on education, literacy, social-emotional learning, discipleship, and new experiences for the community centers in Dallas that need it.

Scudder displays her generosity as she stays busy devoting herself to the cause.


3) Scudder wasn't aware of golf before dating Scheffler

Scheffler admitted that his wife did not know much about the game when they had initially started dating. However, he claimed that she has seemingly gotten better at understanding the game after touring alongside him in 2022 at a press conference for the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January 2023.

"She's learned fast," he praised. "She's a student of the game. She's come to learn it." He continued on to say, "She's spent a lot of time around my parents who love golf. She's learning."

4) She finds Scheffler's Chipotle order funny

Scudder finds her husband's Chipotle order very particular, where he prefers an extra scoop of rice. He orders chicken in his bowl for protein and right when the server moves on to the next station, he orders beef additionally since he feels he doesn't get the full scoop of both meats if he plainly asks for 'double-meat'.

What amuses her further is his habit of eating his Chipotle bowl with a spoon rather than the conventional way of consuming it using a spork.


5) They threw a winter wonderland-themed reception

The couple held their wedding ceremony in a church on December 4, 2020. The wedding, which took place in the presence of friends and family in their hometown, was followed by a lavish winter wonderland-themed reception at Arlington Hall.

The reception venue was decorated in red and white with Christmas lights, bows and lively flora. Each of the guests was given a Santa hat and the couple drove off after their farewell in a golf cart sporting a sign that said "Just Married".
