5 most underperforming LIV golfers at U.S. Open 2024 ft. Dustin Johnson

At the 2024 U.S. Open, the LIV Golf League experienced a peak moment as Bryson DeChambeau went on to win the tournament at the ever-difficult Pinehurst No. 2. After four rounds of intense golf, DeChambeau finished first with a score of 6-under to beat Rory McIlroy, Tony Finau, and Patrick Cantlay.

However, DeChambeau's performance at the US Open does not mean his LIV Golf colleagues were also able to put up good performances. At the tournament, several LIV Golfers experienced a difficult time, and in this article, we will look at five such players.

#5. Phil Mickelson

American golf legend Phil Mickelson had a difficult time at Pinehurst No. 2. After playing two rounds, Mickelson carded 79-76, which meant he couldn't make the cut. Naturally, the result was disappointing for Mickelson, as this is the second consecutive major after the PGA Championship where he did not make the cut.

Even in LIV Golf, Mickelson hasn't managed to register a single victory. Thus, the seasoned golfer would be even more disappointed with this performance at the U.S. Open.

#4. Adrian Meronk

The 31-year-old Adrian Meronk is another LIV Golfer who failed to impress at the 2024 U.S. Open. After carding 76 in Round 1, Meronk carded 76 in Round 2, which meant that he missed out on the cut. This performance was nowhere close to what he did at LIV Golf Houston earlier this month.

At the event, Meronk finished in second place and received a lot of praise for his performance. Apart from that event, Meronk has not been able to make the cut in any of the majors he played in.

#3. Dean Burmester

Dean Burmester was one of the LIV Golfers who made the cut at the 2024 U.S. Open. At the event, Burmester scored 74-71-76-74. He walked home with a cash prize of $40,417. However, this performance by Burmester was lackluster compared to his outing at the PGA Championship earlier this year, where he finished T12.

#2. Brooks Koepka

One can judge Pinehurst No. 2's difficulty based on Brooks Koepka's performance at the 2024 U.S. Open. While Koepka was a fan favorite going into the event, he had to settle for T26. In the four rounds he played, Koepka scored 70-75-71-70 which was surely not what he would have hoped for.

#1. Dustin Johnson

After finishing T13 at LIV Golf Houston, which took place earlier this month, there were a lot of expectations from Dustin Johnson. However, Johnson could not live up to them, as he missed the cut at the event. In the two rounds he played at Pinehurst No. 2, Johnson carded 74-75.
