“A lot of stuff wasn’t seen”: Brooks Koepka on his apparent scuffle with Dustin Johnson

Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson have had the greatest rivalries on the golf course.

A few days ago, when Netflix released a brand-new docuseries on golf, 'Full-Swing,' fans were thrilled to see both Johnson and Koepka on screen.

On a recent Instagram Q&A with Smash GC, Koepka opened up about his scuffle with Dustin Johnson. He said,

"Obviously, when you do something like that, it never shows the full picture . . . a lot of stuff wasn’t seen, but it is what it is."

Guaranteed contracts, it seems, are the solution. Likewise, Brooks and Dustin Johnson are in the same situation. The pair formerly made up golf's most potent bromance, but after a suspected altercation during the 2018 Ryder Cup in Paris, they do not appear to be as close.

Brooks Koepka said that it was 'interesting' how the series showed their on-field rivalry but the actual picture is different. He said that he often talks with Dustin Johnson about what is going on at LIV. He also added that they have no rivalry over what the media and fans believe,

"We’re good. I actually talk to him quite frequently because of what’s going on here at LIV. Pretty much on an every-other-day basis. So we’ve got a good open line of communication. We’ve figured it all out and we’re good."

Nonetheless, on Friday in Mayakoba, Brooks, Bryson, and DJ will all start the 2023 LIV season.

Why did Dustin Johnson switch to LIV golf?

The first season of LIV Golf was the most successful for American professional golfer Dustin Johnson. He had already stated that he was entirely committed to the PGA Tour, thus everyone was shocked by his choice to join the Saudi-backed series.

Johnson explained why he joined LIV Golf on Netflix's 'Full-Swing' episode that featured him.

"For me, it was playing less, and making more money. Pretty simple. If someone offered anyone a job, doing the same thing they were already doing, but less time at the office and they’re gonna pay them more, pretty sure you’re going to take it. And something wrong with you if you didn’t."

A significant factor in why LIV has poached so much talent is that many others share this sentiment. For those who aren't regarded as exceptional golfers on the PGA Tour, the money speaks loudest and with the highest volume.

Will Brooks Koepka rethink joining PGA Tour?

However, according to PGA commissioner Jay Monahan, players who switched to LIV Golf are barred from competing on the Tour completely. But it is golf and everything is possible.

It's important to remember that Brooks Koepka was a household name on the PGA Tour before he made the decision to switch to LIV Golf. Mohanan would love to have him back on the Tour.

The speculation that Koepka regrets moving to LIV also caught our attention as it surfaced just one day after the PGA Tour documentary Full Swing was made available on Netflix.

The second installment of the series, dubbed "Win or Go Home," focused only on Koepka and his unchallenged dominance on the American circuit.

Now, only time will tell if Brooks Koepka or any other player in LIV golf will ever make a comeback on the PGA Tour or not.
