Dustin Johnson leads Day 1 at the Dell Technologies Championship, Anirban is at T-42nd

144th Open Championship - Day One

Dustin Johnson, fresh after winning the Northern Trust last week, looks in no mood to lose his winning streak, with his stellar five under par in Round 1. Starting his round on the 10th hole at TPC Boston with a birdie and keeping his momentum with par on next 2 holes, he later managed a birdie on the 13th and a bogey on 14th moved his score to 1 under. A birdie on the very next hole and an eagle on the par-5, 18th changed the course of his round to four under par.

With a bogey and two birdies on next nine holes, he had taken a strokes lead over Kyle Stanley, Marc Leishman, Sergio Garcia and Jon Rahm. Dustin who has won four events this year including WGC Dell Technologies Match Play, WGC Mexico Championship, Genesis Open and last week’s Northern Trust, which still keeps him 101.22 points ahead of Jordan Spieth, ranked second on the OWGR.

Garcia, who has pledged to support recent Texas Flood relief with his eagles and birdies scored four under par for the day, which included six birdies. A total of $12,000 is assured for the people in need from just his first round and we hope he plays extremely well for the rest three rounds and encashes more amount for the relief.

For a T-6th position, we have six contenders including Kevin Na, Luke List, Brian Harman, Jason Dufner, Jonas Blixt and Grayson Murray. Jonas Blixt who last won Zurich Classic Playoff with his partner Cameron Smith by defeating the team of Kisner and Brown. Rickie Fowler and Mickelson are at two under par for a T-12th position on the board both making three birdies and a bogey on the way to finish their round one.

Indian pride Anirban Lahiri finished his Round with one over par consisting four bogeys and three birdies, putting him for a T-42nd finish for Day1. His best finish for the season has come at the Memorial in June this year finishing for a T-2nd, making him currently ranked 66th on the FedEx Cup rankings.
